My first project at Simplon
I joined Simplon Maghreb through a programme introducing coding and robotics to children and teenagers supported by associations. I led the operational work for six months, with the team’s support.
Before, during and after a workshop
The work included contacting associations, preparing participant lists, coordinating with the driver and arranging travel and equipment. I also facilitated workshops, prepared reports and took photographs for programme communications.
Activities introduced instructions, loops and conditions through games, block-based programming, mBot robots, HaloCode boards and Arduino circuits. The aim was a first practical experience of algorithms and robotics.
A programme across several regions
The programme brought me into contact with associations across several regions of Morocco, including around Tétouan and Oued Laou, Agadir, Marrakech, Aït Ourir, Rabat, Ben Slimane and Talsint.
The report for the full 2023 programme records 54 workshops and 1,152 participations, with several facilitators. This total covers March to December; it is not a count of distinct children I personally taught during my six-month assignment.
A practice that began earlier and continued afterwards
I had already facilitated activities in the Solicode club during my training. Occasional workshops continued later, including with YouCode near Youssoufia and at the Family Tech Challenge in Casablanca. These were separate interventions, beyond the 2023 Kids assignment.
